Chairman & Managing Director of Lords Hospital, Trivandrum, he is the chief gastrointestinal laparoscopic surgeon at the hospital. He covers the entire range of general surgery and is an expert in Thyroid surgery. He is in fact the first surgeon to remove the Appendix laparoscopically in June 1996 in Trivandrum. His wide experience in liver and pancreatic surgery is commendable. He uses the laparoscopic method and also other advanced laparoscopic procedures to perform surgery of gall bladder, appendix, ovarian cyst, hysterectomy, perforation closure, hernia repair CBD exploration, fundoplication etc. Dr. Haridas was the Former Professor and Head of Surgery, Medical College Services, Kerala. He has been trained in UK from 1974 to 1980. He was a Consultant Surgeon in the Ministry of health UAE for a period of 5 yrs. He was chosen to perform the Prof. Raghavachari Memorial oration on Liver Cancer in 1999. He has published several articles some of which are on newer techniques in Vagotomy, Inguinal Hernia, Lumbar sympathectomy, Hemorrhoids etc. At present Lords is a pioneer center in Laparoscopic surgery and many advanced techniques like Stapler Hemorrhoids (Piles).

Current fields of expertise

  • Mainly on Gastro Intestinal and Lap Surgery
  • Former Prof. And Head of General Surgery, Medical College, Kerala. Liver surgery and Pancreatic surgery were his areas of interest during that time and even today.
  • Did advanced suture less Thyroidectomy, through a very small incision, the scar of which will not be seen after 2 months. Thyroids as well as Hernias of long standing and multiple recurrences are dealt with successfully. This is a special darning technique.
  • Lap. Hernia surgery: Repair of Inguinal Hernia and Abdominal Hernias are done Laparoscopically on a regular basis.
  • Abdominoplasty along with large hernial defects is also an area of interest and widely practiced.
